— WHO WE ARE

A place to reflect, heal and grow.

— OUR MISSION

Care that strengthens people and community.

Terrace Counseling Center provides compassionate, accessible mental health care for individuals and families throughout Columbia International University (CIU), Ben Lippen School, Denny Terrace, and the greater Columbia community.

Grounded in CIU's Christ-centered mission, we provide ethical, affordable and evidence-based counseling that cares for the whole person and welcomes each individual with dignity, compassion and respect.

Terrace Counseling Center also serves as a clinical training environment for CIU graduate counseling students, expanding access to care while preparing the next generation of counselors to serve with competence, character and compassion.

— OUR APPROACH

Caring for the whole person.

Mind

Body

Relationships

Spirit

We believe well-being is interconnected. Our approach recognizes the importance of mind, body, relationships and spiritual life, creating space to understand what you're experiencing and work together toward hope, healing and wholeness.

Our Christian foundation shapes our commitment to the dignity and worth of every person. We welcome individuals and families of all backgrounds, and faith can be thoughtfully incorporated into counseling when desired by the client.

“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

— 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NIV)
— ROOTED IN COMMUNITY

Why Terrace Counseling Center?

Our name reflects our home in the Denny Terrace community and our commitment to providing accessible mental health care close to where people live, learn and work.

Through a partnership with Sandhills Community Church, Terrace Counseling Center is establishing a dedicated counseling space in Denny Terrace while serving individuals and families from CIU, Ben Lippen School and the surrounding Columbia community.

Together, these connections allow Terrace Counseling Center to bridge campus and community, expanding access to care and strengthening the well-being of those we serve.

— CARE & EDUCATION

Serving our community. Preparing future counselors.

A faculty supervisor and a counselor-in-training in conversation

Terrace Counseling Center serves as a clinical training site for students in Columbia International University's Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling and Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision programs.

Under the supervision of licensed clinicians, counselors-in-training gain meaningful clinical experience while developing the competence, character and professional excellence needed to serve others well.

This integration of care, education and service allows Terrace Counseling Center to expand access to quality mental health care today while investing in the counselors who will serve individuals, families and communities in the future.
